The Cure for Greed, 2012

This injection kit entitled The Cure for Greed features a 24-karat gold-plated syringe and a single 5ml dose of dollar ink recovered from approximately $10,000 in US currency.

The following video is a behind-the-scenes peek of the four-month process and production of The Cure for Greed:

Intricate mechanical and chemical separation is needed to extract and recover pigment from US currency. The ink is then re-stabilized, divided into individual doses and packaged into medical vials.

The personally monogrammed custom-made mahogany or walnut box contains:

• one 24-karat gold-plated syringe
• two 24-karat gold-plated needles
• one 5ml crimp-sealed serum vial containing one dose of pure dollar ink

It is a way of capturing a fleeting moment and eternalizing it, and it gives the viewer the opportunity to see a gesture.”
